Gardening ClubGardening clubI am very grateful to Mrs Mottaz, our Office Assistant and Mid Day Coordinator, who has been running a Gardening Club at school during lunch times. This has been mainly with Year 3 children up to now, but other children may enjoy being involved in the future. The planting beds are at the far side of the school, near the back of the school hall, so do go and have a look for yourself!

Minimus
Starting next September, we will be offering Minimus as an after-school activity on Wednesdays for children in Years 3 to 6. Minimus is a unique Latin course for younger children, based on a real family who lived at Vindolanda in 100AD: Flavius, the fort commander, his wife Lepidina, their three children, assorted household slaves, their cat Vibrissa - and of course Minimus the mouse! Minimus is organized and run by staff and students from the University's Faculty of Classics. If you are interested, please sign up now as there are limited places! Give your name to Miss Williams in the school office. More information at http://www.minimus-etc.co.uk/.

Governors
St Paul’s School Governors met on Tuesday 20 June and wish to pass on:
*The school Special Educational Needs and Disability policy has been revised; you can read this and the SEND Information Report on the school website. There will be a SEND Information Meeting led by Mr Smart in the Year 4 classroom at 7pm on Monday 3 July;
*Mr Jordan has been working with Mrs Chrich to ensure a good transition for when she begins in September;
*New parent governors have put themselves forward – more news to follow.

Leavers’ Service
Do join us at St Paul’s Church at 10:30 on Sunday 9 July for our Leavers’ service. As part of the regular service, there will be a time to remember those leaving St Paul’s School at the end of this academic year.

Mural
You may have seen that a section of the end wall to the Year 6 classroom has been painted (see left). This is part of a community project undertaken by staffmural and students from the Stephen Perse art department, which is next to St Paul’s School on Coronation Street. The white rectangle is a base layer, on which will be painted a theatre scene with a proscenium arch and a background scene in the middle. Children will be able to act out stories in front of this scene which will make a valuable addition to our playground resources.

After School Club
After School Club is doing really well and is very popular. There is a legal limit to how many children may attend and bookings for September have already reached that level. This means we are unable to offer ad-hoc bookings in the future.

Music at St Paul’s
Well done to Emma, Rafa, Florence, Alice and Hannah for playing the piano in assembly! On
Wednesday 28th there is to be a concert in the school hall from 7pm and you are all welcome to
attend.

Staffing for next year
I usually let you know about this time of year who is going to be the teacher for each class. However, I am still in the process of interviewing and will let you know as soon as I can.

Heffer’s Children’s Bookshop

Heffers Children's Bookshop are having their first Open Afternoon for schools on Wednesday, 5 July 4 - 7pm - Come and have a chat with expert booksellers and some local authors (including Julian Sedgwick, Helen Moss and Matty Long) about up and coming titles, and, of course, some of our old favourites you might have missed for your library. As well as being an excellent excuse to sneak out for an afternoon of browsing, they're offering a 25% discount on book purchases during the event, refreshments and other goodies.

School Lunches – Meal Price from September 2017
Please note that the price of a paid school meal will increase by 5p (to £2.30) from September (with all children in Reception and KS1 still entitled to a free meal).Our popular school lunches remain excellent value for money and help improve children’s concentration in the afternoon. This modest increase is the first for two years and helps the school to operate a viable, safe and well managed catering service, whilst maintaining good quality ingredients and healthy menus. If your child has a medical condition and has special dietary needs, our Caterer, CCS, is able to help. Please visit their website www.cambridgeshireccs.co.uk.
